A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

Age 88, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Frank was born in Kalamazoo on April 29, 1933, the son of the late Charles L. and May E. (Ries) Root. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in Germany, a member of the 6th Armored Calvary Regiment. Frank earned the National Service Defense Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and a Marksmanship Badge. On October 6, 1956, Frank married the love of his life, Linda D. (Frazier) Root, who preceded him in death on June 1, 2012. Frank was a kind man with a strong work ethic. He was dedicated to his family and friends and believed in honesty and integrity. He always took time to help others and never complained about his own concerns or trials. Frank will be missed by many. He is survived by his sons, Marty and Franklin Root; grandchildren, Angel Davis and Andy Root; great-grandchildren, Jace, Lilly and Kayla; siblings, Ann (Donald) Douglas, Glory Ammerman, Hope (Chet) Robb, Barry (Barb) Root, Stan Root, Brandy (Delene) Root and Toni (David) Garrett and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and Linda, Frank was preceded in death by an infant daughter and his siblings, Chuck Root, Pat Bodtke, Richard Root, Dixie Martin and Mary Roberts.
