Burial will be private. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at First Baptist Church of Coldwater. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Coldwater.

Gail E. Nichols, age 83, of Coldwater, died Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater. Gail was born April 13, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Wilford and Imogene (Merrion) Couillard. She moved to Coldwater in 1952 when her parents purchased what was then known as Martin’s Book Store and later known as Couillard’s, and then Taylor’s. She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1958 and Western Michigan University in 1962, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. Gail married Howard D. Taylor in 1962 and they raised two children. She taught for Coldwater Community Schools for many years, mostly First Grade.
In 1980 she married Robert B. Nichols and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Coldwater for over 70 years and was devoted to serving and encouraging her children and grandchildren to follow in their faith. She was appreciated for her serving and caring attitude, her sweet disposition, and her firm faith in Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with her husband, and a good cup of coffee. She was an accomplished quilter and made many quilts for family and friends. She was an active member of the Girard Prairie Quilters.
Survivors include her husband, Bob, children: Daniel P. (Sheila) Taylor and Jill C. (Joel) Smith, Michael B. (Danna) Nichols, and Michelle R. (Doug) Shively; grandchildren: Jacob and Eliza Taylor; Zack, Madelyn, Emily, and Preston Logan; Jeffrey and Christopher Nichols; Luke and Cole Shively; great granddaughter Madeline Nichols; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Claire (Thomas) Robey.
