A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 936 Lake Street, Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Robinson Cemetery, Gobles. Those wishing to make a lasting gift in Genevieve’s memory are asked to consider St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, c/o the funeral home.

Age 91, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2019. Genny was born on January 8, 1928, in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Lewis and Lettie (Fryman) Quance. On July 17, 1946 she married Ralph Joseph Bearss who preceded her in death in 1991. She was devoted to her children and spent her life as a housewife and homemaker. Her baking skills were not to be surpassed. No one made a better pie. She had deep faith in God and offered Him her pain in her final years. She was a faithful Catholic and member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Genny is survived by her children, Larry Bearss of Lawrence, David (Nancy) Bearss of Owosso, Linda Bearss of Sarasota, FL, Dennis Bearss of Allegan, Michael (Sharon) Bearss of Parchment, Susan (Wes) Carpenter of Paw Paw, and Karen Bearss of Kalamazoo; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; a daughter in law Brenda Bearss of Pensecola, FL; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son Richard Bearss; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers.
