Professor Demetrakopoulos was absolutely my favorite professor at WMU. I had him for both courses of Western Civilization - back in the late 60's. I went on to become a History major - and I majored in French as well. Professor Demetrakopoulos was my advisor. He was tough - but so fair - and I loved the passion he had for his subject matter. I only heard about his passing today - from my WMU roomie - who also majored in History - because of him. RIP dear professor. What a beautiful legacy - his family, his students, his wife, and his home in Greece. He will never be forgotten. I graduated from WMU in 1971 - and I still remember him - vividly!!!!

I am so sorry to hear about George. We shared many fun times during Registration and Orientation at WMU. George always had a great smile and you could smell his pipe. He always had a smile and was willing to work with anyone who needed help. George even got me to try goat meat when he was eating and I asked what it was. Please know that he was a man of integrity, wit, and a great work ethic. I enjoyed the years we shared together at work, even in different areas, we worked together for the better of the students. He will be greatly missed.
