We are saddened to report the death of our brother George Francis Plumstead on November 22, 2022. George was born on June 22,1955 in Chicago, Illinois.  He grew to adulthood in Fremont, Michigan.  He attended Ferris State College studying commercial art for a period of time.  George lived in Grand Rapids after college then migrated to Kalamazoo, where he lived most of his adult life. George was very interested in politics, current events, art, comedy and collecting comic books. He got great joy from visiting with family, and especially loved seeing his nieces and nephews. George was a resilient, good-natured fellow, always a kind gentle soul, with a sense of humor. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease about 10 years ago, then around 5 years ago suffered a seizure which left him immobile. He struggled in rehab for several months and was never able to recover enough to regain the ability to walk well. From that point forward he was unable to live without special assistance but remained somewhat independent in his own apartment. George rarely, if ever complained about his unfortunate situation, not a trace of bitterness or anger about his luck. We are grateful George was able to travel to the Upper Peninsula to memorialize his parents with his family earlier this year. It was not a simple trip for George to plan and accomplish.  Tragically, George died unexpectedly of natural causes related to Parkinson’s Disease just 4 months after he attended the memorial for his mother and father. George will be greatly missed. George is survived by Margaret Bloemers (sister), Anthony Plumstead (Brother), John Plumstead (brother), Marianna Plumstead (sister), Jake (Sarah) Bloemers (Nephew), Nate Bloemers (Nephew), Michelle Plumstead (Niece), Daniel (Ashlee) Plumstead (Nephew), Fiona Plumstead (Niece), Jordan Plumstead (Nephew). George is preceded in death by his loving parents, Donald and Harriet Plumstead: George and Clare Plumstead (Grandparents), Patrick and Margaret Furlong, (Grandparents): Margaret (Don) DeChant (Aunt), Barb (Wally) Bruce (Aunt), Marianne (Bob) Rahilly (Aunt): Frank (Jane) Furlong (Uncle), Sam Bloemers (Nephew).
