George J.  Tomlinson, 57, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2021. He was born on January  29, 1964, to Philip and Joy (Cook) Tomlinson in Kalamazoo, MI.

George attended Kalamazoo Public Schools for his early education, but prior to graduating from Loy Norrix High School, he decided to move west to pursue his dream of acting. George became a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists in the early 80’s. Although he was pursued by modeling agencies and was able to secure small acting roles, he eventually decided to move back to Michigan.

Upon moving back to Michigan, he found employment with the City of Kalamazoo as a skilled mason for the Public Works Department. George enjoyed being outside, especially in the fall and summer months. He enjoyed spending time at the many local lakes fishing, swimming and hiking trails. George was in his element when being outdoors.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved cruising in his vintage cars. George attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 2013 where he earned a Certificate of Achievement  for completing the Welding Technologies program with the hopes of beginning a new career path. George and (Lisa Boulding) welcomed a son in 1991, George N. Tomlinson and a daughter, Lynn M. Tomlinson in 1998. In 2017 they became grandparents when their son welcomed his daughter, Mya into this world. When George spoke about his son, daughter and granddaughter –he lit up with pride. He loved his children and granddaughter. George was preceded in death by his father, Philip, brothers, Bruce and Cooper Tomlinson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children George N. Tomlinson and Lynn M. Tomlinson (Kalamazoo, MI), his granddaughter, Mya J. Tomlinson (Kalamazoo, MI), his mother Joy L. Tomlinson (Kalamazoo, MI), a brother, Peter (Houston) Tomlinson (Los Angeles, CA), nephews, Matthew Tomlinson (Albuquerque, NM) and Rex Tomlinson (Los Angeles, CA), an Aunt, Catherine (Cook) Mecray (Lopez Island, WA), and several cousins and numerous friends.
