Age 73, passed away at Centrica Rose Arbor Place on January 6, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on January 17, 1950, the son of the late George N. and Grace (Vosser) Bodnar. Before graduating from Portage Northern High School, Class of 1968, on March 1, 1968, he married his childhood sweetheart Gloria J. Brigance. Together they made many wonderful memories to cherish. George had a tough exterior, but a wonderful sense of humor and kind heart when you got to know him. He worked hard as a journeyman-mechanic to support his family. When not working he loved spending time in his garden, working on his classic 1956 Ford truck and tinkering with projects around the home. He also loved camping and fishing. He was a loyal Detroit Redwings and Tigers fan. He loved animals, especially his cat “Willy”. Above all George loved his family. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and friend who will be missed. George is survived by his wife, Gloria Bodnar; two children, Rhonda and Steven Bodnar; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Smith; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Michael Watson) Burke, Jessica (Jason) Fugett, Eric Bodnar, Jason Pressley and Aaron Grant; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Myer; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a son, William N. Bodnar.
