I had the pleasure of meeting Gordy about 9 years ago. We shared a common passion, fishing. I was new to the Kalamazoo area at that time and didn't know where to go. Gordy made a deal with me, I haul his boat and he would show me where to fish. Our friendship grew quickly. He took me under his wing and we enjoyed many fishing adventures together. He would invite me to his church for their wild game dinners. He always introduced me to his friends and family as if we had been friends for life. I am so blessed that I had the great opprotunity to be a friend of his. A friendship I truly value. He and Janet always showed great interest in my life and my family. Infact, he watched me go from bachelor, to husband, to father. He gave me great advice and encouragement so many times. It always felt like going to grandma and grandpa's house when we would visit. And who could ever forget Gordy and his tootsie rolls! Kids love that man and his love for kids showed through his sometimes gruff exterior. He had a way of making everyone feel a part of his life. I have so many memories. I have heard so much about his grandchildren whom he so dearly loved. He will be missed. Some people come and go, but he definitely left an impact on my life. I am a better man for knowing him.

Gordy welcomed me into his family when I married his son, Doug. He "got me" often with his joking as I sometimes didn't know whether or not to believe his stories, but it was always done with love. He was a man with high ideals and principles which he passed along to his family. Gordy never met a stranger. He loved everyone and enjoyed his life here on earth. We will dearly miss him, but look forward to being reunited with him one day.

A fine man that I had the privilege of spending some time with. Buck, his brother Bill and I spent many days at the swimming pool at Western Michigan University. My thoughts and prayers for his family and friends. Loved so much by all that knew him.

Dear "Uncle Buck", you were such a defining personality as both my children grew up under Auntie Jan's care from three weeks to five years old! I remember our Friday night dinners out, and how the kids would wait for you to come home from work. Rest easy good friend, and thank you for being there to help Jan all during those years of daycare and beyond, you will be missed, and forever in our hearts.

The world is a little dimmer. My fond memories of Uncle Buck include warm hugs, gentle teasing, lots of laughter, and lots of stories mostly about fishing. Our prayers go to the Grimm family. Martha & Rosslyne

Do you remember when Bobby and I used to come to your home way back then ? I ended up doing 32 Yrs at the Dept then we moved to Florida. "Blessing's Jack

To Gordy's family. Gordy and Janet were our best man and maid of honor at our wedding in 1966. They were very good friends of my fathers Morris Rathburn who introduced us to them. We also later worked at WMU. Gordy was a true friend. It always tickled me the way he shared his ice cream cone with his dog. A great man who will be sadly missed.
