In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest at St. Casmir Catholic Cemetery in Chicago, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, c/o the funeral home.

Age 80, passed away on April 13, 2024, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Blue Island, IL, the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Wagner) Hannapel. Grant grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He graduated high school, attended college and then joined the Army National Guard where he worked as an aircraft technician. He retired from the National Guard after twenty-three years of honorable service. On August 23, 1969, he married the love of his life Dalia (Jancys) Hannapel who survives. When not working Grant enjoyed many hobbies, including race car driving, Star Trek, traveling and was an avid gun collector. He loved the simple things in life and spent many hours outdoors surrounded by nature. He also loved the water and spending time on his boats. Above all Grand loved his family and his friends and he leaves behind many wonderful memories to be cherished. He is also survived by two children, Michael (Margo) Hannapel and Katrine Rust; four grandchildren, Addie and Madeline Hannapel and Kristina and Kaidyn Rust. He was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Victoria Hannapel and a brother, Roger Hannapel.
