Age 90, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2024, with her loving daughters by her side. She was born in Battle Creek, MI, on November 17, 1933. Helen had a servant’s heart; her life and faith based on the hope and promise of Jesus. Her passion led her to become a nurse and she worked as the school nurse for CEYF (Continuing Education for Young Families) for more than twenty-five years. When not working she found multiple ways to serve others. She was an active member of Westwood United Methodist Church where she was instrumental in implementing the ASP Program, Compassionate Friends, Widow and Widowers Retreat and several other programs. She loved being a voice for good, she was full of encouragement and her heart and home were always open to those in need. She volunteered and served on the board for CAN (Council for Abuse and Neglect), AARP, ISAAC, and Meals on Wheels. When not giving her time and gifts, she enjoyed being at home working in the beautiful flower garden. She could often be found crocheting and enjoyed making prayer shawls which would be given out to anyone she met. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her daughters and leaves them with wonderful memories of a life well lived. Helen’s warm smile, kindness and faith will be missed by all. She is survived by two daughters, Marianne and Julia Lancaster; two sisters, Wanda Babcock and Karen (Tom) Kohlbrandt; extended family and friends. She is preceded in passing by her husband, John “Jack” Lancaster who she married on June 2, 1956; a daughter, Brenda Lancaster and sister, Joanne Fales.
