Age 103, passed away at Bronson Hospital on July 22, 2021. She was born in Monroe, MI, on February 18, 1918, the daughter of the late Floyd and Arlene (Williamson) Palmatier. On November 2, 1940, she married the love of her life Gerrit Hoogenboom who preceded her in passing in 2009. She was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Linda Hoogenboom-Gosnel. Helen and Gerrit made their home in Southwest Michigan and worked hard to provide a happy life for their family. Helen was a loyal wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Her heart and home were always open to those in need. She loved to cook and host parties, holidays, and family gatherings. She was an accomplished square dancer and made many friends during her time on the dance floor. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society. Helen believed in the Lord and attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Above all Helen loved her family and friends and leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish. Her kind smile and joyful spirit will be missed. She is survived by a daughter, Julie Weldon; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
