Age 83, passed away quietly on August 17, 2016. Ilah was born in Benton Harbor on May 20, 1933, to Victor and Ina Marie (Tooker) Phares. She married Burrell C. Neal on April 21, 1952. Ilah is survived by her daughters, Sarah (Rodney) Mills and Elizabeth (Robert) Crossman; son, Randy (Lois) Neal; sisters, Jennie Sholly and Edith Wilson; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ilah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burrell on February 21, 1987; a son, Samuel Neal on January 2, of 2014 and brother, Victor Phares. She spent her entire life devoted to the Lord. Ilah served on the church board, was a servant of God through teaching Sunday school and hosting Vacation Bible School at her home out on the front lawn; and created beautiful music on the piano and organ playing by ear. She spent several years taking care of others at the Galesburg Manor in Galesburg and then completed her nursing assistant years at the Battle Creek Sanitarium. Ilah was indeed a servant to God! She had a contagious smile and sweet personality that would capture your heart; you just couldn’t help but want to love her.
