Age 71, passed away early Friday afternoon, January 7, 2022. Ida was born in Cotulla, TX,  on June 20, 1950, the daughter of Cayetano and Josefina (Medina) Ramos. On August 9, 1969, she married Paul Hernandez, who survives her. Ida was a gemstone collector and she designed her own jewelry. She enjoyed clothes and visiting the casino and especially liked playing video poker. She worked for many years for the Kalamazoo Public Schools where she was a bilingual tutor for grades K-8. For many years she was an avid paddleball player, and she loved the people she played with more than the game itself.. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter Caterina “Maria” Hernandez of Raven, VA; god-daughter, Lauren Mitchell; several nieces and nephews, including Allisen Trainer and Randy Gauna; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Joseph Gauna.
