BENNETT, Iven H.
“Bing”
Battle Creek

Bing, aka, Iven Henry Bennett, age 59, of Battle Creek, passed away suddenly on August 4, 2023. Bing was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to Howard and Imogene (White) Bennett on September 10, 1963. He was a wild child from birth, always getting himself into something, from ruining the first family colored TV with a magnet, tearing apart the electric can opener, or even when he urinated in his big brother’s marble can because it was too cold to use the outhouse during the winter. He was the ultimate prankster. Bing attended Harper creek Schools where he wrestled his way to the State championship. As an adult, he was the life of the party. Bing was a great storyteller and had a knack for making people laugh. The talent he held was unmatched. He was a simple man with three loves in life, fishing, drinking, and bullshitting. Don’t let the rough and tough exterior fool you, Bing had a heart of pure gold. He was truly one of a kind. “Oh, oh it’s hot!” If ya know ya know. Bing is survived by his mother, Imogene Bennett; his sister, Christy Root (Lonnie); his brother, Bill Bennett (Paula); his fiancé, Robin Gurnee; his daughters, Kaycee Bennett, Sherry Wilkey, Debra Wilkey, and Alisha Wilkey and his grandchildren, Jaslene Howard, Lucas Shaver, Lillian Shaver, Lilah Shaver and Sage Saylor. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard “Bud” Bennett. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bing’s life will be held at a later date.
