SILMAN, Jaci A.
Kalamazoo
Age 69, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Jaci was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 9, 1953, 25 minutes before her twin sister, Jeri, was born. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Claribel (Simpson) Ruimveld. She graduated from Loy Norrix High School, class of 1971. Jaci knew from a young age that she wanted to be a hairstylist, so while in high school she took co-op during her senior year to attend State Beauty College in the afternoons and evenings and graduated from beauty school around the same time as high school. She was encouraged by friends to teach cosmetology and received her teaching certificate as well. Jaci also worked for Eaton Corporation for more than 15 years and Kloosterman’s Greenhouses where she assisted with their paperwork and helped during the busy season. She was an accomplished bowler, bowling with some of Kalamazoo’s finest and traveled state and nationwide to compete. She was active in her church, St. Andrew Community Church, up until she became ill. Jaci was very talented in many ways, including sculpting hair, sewing window treatments, cooking and painting, arranging and growing flowers. She was a marvelous hostess to friends and family, especially for holidays and her home was a showplace. Jaci also learned to knit and crochet from her grandmother. She created many beautiful pieces and often gave them away as gifts. She enjoyed working with her aunt, Eleanor VanDenBerg, and together they would put their skills to use to complete difficult patterns. She loved to read just about any kind of literature, including novels, autobiographies and biblical stories. Jaci is survived by her only son, Jonathan Silman; her twin sister, Jeri (Jim) Silman and brother, Jeffrey Ruimveld.
