A memorial service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, beginning at 2:00pm, at Centerpoint Church 2345 10th St. North, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The family will receive family and friends at the church beginning at 1:00pm. Memorial contributions may be given to Centerpoint Church or Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, c/o the funeral home.

Passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the age of 85. Jack was born on May 17, 1938, the son of the late Harry and Lorraine (Jochen) Neal. Jack had a strong faith in the Lord which served as the foundation of his life. He was kind to others and generous with his gifts. He was loved by all who knew him and leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. Jack attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a BBA. On August 19, 1961, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ellen (Vukorpa) Neal, who survives. They enjoyed 62 years together with Jack working as a personnel administrator for several corporations. Jack loved to fish, was an accomplished woodcarver of birds and fish, and enjoyed telling stories. Many fond memories were made with family and friends at the family cottage in South Haven, fishing and watching sunsets.  Jack was a member of Rotary International and Centerpoint Church where he was an involved volunteer, trustee and served as the Director of Missions. Jack loved his family and his friends. He cherished the time he spent with Ellen, was proud of his wonderful children and grandchildren. His smile, laughter and jokes will be missed. Jack is also survived by his daughters, Susan (David) VanOyen, Marcia (Scott) McGraw; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christine, and Jonathan VanOyen, Taylor, Josh, and Sarah McGraw; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Andrew) Hall and Mary Neal; nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in passing by his brother, Robert Neal.
