We are sad to announce the passing of James A. Cornell. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no service is scheduled. Age 89, James passed away on Wednesday June 28, 2023 at his home in Portage, MI. James was born on July 13, 1933, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to parents, Howard and Marquerite (Smith) Cornell. He was an accomplished machinist and tool and die maker. James loved restoring old cars in his free time and wintering in Florida. He retired from Western Michigan University, where he worked as a machinist for the physics department. James is survived by his wife, Lilijana; his son, James (Jennifer); daughter, Tani; granddaughter, Hannah; grandson, Kessen; sister, Janet Boughton; brother, Alan Cornell; and many nieces and nephews. James was a loving and generous husband and father. He will be deeply missed.
