James A. Donovan, known to most as Jim or “Goat” passed away at the age of 67 on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Ascension Borgess Hospital after a brief illness. Jim was born in Plainwell, Michigan on March 21, 1955, the son of David A. and Laura (Gardner) Donovan. He attended Plainwell Schools and was a life-long resident of the Kalamazoo and Comstock areas. Jim recently retired from a tree service owned by his best friend, Todd. He was an outdoorsman, everyone’s go to guy and nicknamed Goat, the Greatest of All Time. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Deborah Donovan. He is survived by his wife, Kelli L. (Fee) Donovan; his children, Jessica, Justin, Erin and Taylor; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Debbie) Nocis, Diane Carpenter, Janet Kisinger, John Nocis and Alice (Robert Termeer) Nocis; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Kalamazoo Community Church, 2435 N. 26th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
