A service to honor James’ life will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Centrica Care Navigators, c/o the funeral home.

Age 89, passed away early Saturday morning, December 11, 2021. James was born in Bay City, on November 6, 1932, the son of Clarence and Alice (Mead) Miller. On July 3, 1956, he married Virginia Hiestand who survives him. James was a 1951 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He worked for many years at Peter Eckrich & Son, retiring from there in 1995. He also worked in sales at Acme Bedding for 22 years. He proudly served his nation in the United States Navy. James was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping. He along with Ginny and their family enjoyed traveling to places like Florida, Oregon, Kentucky, and Texas.  Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Randy (Anne) Miller, Jeffrey (Melissa) Miller, Craig Miller, LeAnne (David) Lindenbach, grandchildren, Chad Miller, Ethan Lindenbach, Sarah Lindenbach, Elizabeth Miller and Benjamin Miller; step-grandson, Adam Baumann; brother, Jerry Miller; sister-in-law, Donna Miller; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Edith Hiestand; and a brother-in-law, Frank Hiestand Jr.
