James Edward Russell, a beloved husband, father and grandfather entered his eternal rest on August 21, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Truman Arkansas to Ray and May Russell on June 1st, 1930. As a young child he worked with his family as a migrant farmer and learned early in life the value of hard work.

He was united in Holy Matrimony at the age of 19, to the love of his life, Audrey Ruth Hamlett on June 27th, 1949, in Pocahontas Arkansas, and grew in love through 72 years of marriage. As an adult, he was known to be a lifelong learner who managed to take a multitude of hobbies and turn them into a livelihood. His skills that carried him through his life as a provider included construction, electrical, plumbing, art, engineering and design. He was a jack of ALL trades! Even though he did not complete a formal education he tested into a college program for management and leadership at the request of his employer as a busy husband and father.

During their married life they had countless adventures. From Arkansas they set out as migrant farm hands and followed the crops from state to state. Their journey even brought them to Chicago where they owned and ran a restaurant. While their labors were varied their integrity and excellence was evident in all they did. They settled in Michigan where they laid down their roots. Beyond all he accomplished, his true legacy is the life he lived dedicated to God.

While he had much joy in his life he said goodbye to many that he loved including his devoted wife, parents, sister Millie, his Great Grand Son Timothy Reece, Daughter- in- Law Lora Russell, and Son Mark Russell.

His memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind; Children: James Michael Russell, Deborah (Steve) Mitchell, and David Russell. His Grandchildren: Jody Reese, Steven (Heather) Mitchell, Erick Mencarelli, Rebecca (Marlon) Southall, Audrey (Sonny) Singh, Susan (Eliud “Kip”) Tuwey, Karen Boyd, Kimberly Russell, Joshua Russell, and Amelia Russell. He also leaves behind 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren along with many other beloved family members and friends.
