I worked closely with Jim Bauer (Big Jim) while I was employed by Bobcat Company. Everyone, especially the engineers who worked with Jim, respected his intelligence. No one ever doubted his integrity or commitment to achieve results. He loved being an engineer! Most of all he loved his wife, Mary, and his family. I will miss Jim, but I have many fond memories that I will cherish for a long long time. In addition to his family, he leaves as a legacy, many models of Bobcat skid-steer loaders that he helped develop during his engineering tenure at Melroe a/k/a Bobcat Company.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Jim. I just retired from Melroe bobcat last week after 42 years. I grew up in Lisbon and know the Bauer family. Jim left for Michigan shortly after I started at bobcat. He was one of the original pioneers and I’m sure had no idea what Bobcat would become around the world. He truly left his mark on the Melroe family. My deepest sympathy to your family. He was a great man and very much respected in the bobcat world.
