A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Wesley Hall of First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, 212 S. Park St., Kalamazoo. Janet will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service at Deepdale Cemetery in Lansing. Contributions in her memory may be made to First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 87, passed away on March 16, 2024. Janet was born in Lansing, MI, on June 12, 1936, the daughter of Harold J. and Clara A. (McMaster) Balmer. Janet enjoyed a long-time career at National City Bank, formerly First of America, where regular customers appreciated her smile. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts and church activities, most recently with First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo. Janet is survived by her children Deborah Search (James) Willoughby of Kalamazoo, David (Jayne) Search of Hudsonville and Daniel Search of Tripoli, IA; grandchildren, Tracey, Christopher, Samantha, Jessica, Stephanie, Kyle, Kendra, Melissa; many great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bach; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Elizabeth Sands Kordella; sister, LaCorda Bach; brother, William Balmer.
