Janice Darlene Oosterhouse, age 71, passed away on April 12, 2023, at her home in Mattawan, Michigan. She was born on June 22, 1951, the daughter of the late Gerald and Angie (DeHaan) DeBoer in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

After graduating high school, Jan worked for the Family Service Center of Kalamazoo. In 1971, she married her junior high school sweetheart, Mark Oosterhouse. They have three children, Rebecca, who preceded her in death, Kevin (Amy Jo), and Jennifer.

Jan joyfully served as church secretary at Fourth Reformed Church for 12 years. She loved working in her gardens and playing golf. Jan also loved and delighted in her six grandchildren, Noah, Naomi, Max, Marlee, Cora, and Levi.

She was a prayer warrior, evidenced by her many prayer journals and how she lived her faith in every trial she walked. Jan offered her gift of encouragement and faith by regularly sending greeting cards to others who were hurting. She always had a word of encouragement and a warm smile for those around her.

A celebration of Jan’s life will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Community Church, 7829 5th St., Mattawan, MI 49071, with Pastor Greg VanHeukelom officiating. A private graveside ceremony for the family will be at Harwick Cemetery prior to the Celebration of Life. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators Hospice or DC Strong.
