In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and a gathering to celebrate Jeff’s memory will be held later on, this spring. Age 67, passed away at home on Monday, March 15, 2021 following a brief illness. Jeff was born in Paw Paw on January 28, 1954, the son of Jack and Jacqueline (Roberts) Mitchell. Jeff was a true car buff and enjoyed working on old classics. His favorite was his 1979 Barracuda,. His passion was his music. As a guitar player, Jeff played in many different bands throughout his life. People also knew that Jeff was obsessed with model trains. At one point, he had an entire room filled with his custom railroad, including homemade mountains, tunnels and trees. Jeff was a true Harley Davidson lover, as well, owning at least five different models throughout his life, the most recent was his 1987 Classic Flht/C. As time went on, his hobbies evolved and eventually began enjoying old movies, especially sci-fi, such as Star Wars and Star Trek. In 1982, Jeff married the love of his life, Vickie Stecker, and they enjoyed 27 years of marriage, prior to her death in 2009. Jeff was a master machinist, and spent his entire career at Parker Hannifin/National Water Lift in Kalamazoo, and earned accolades from NWL/Parker as the best machinist on staff. Jeff retired from his job approximately 11 years ago, shortly after the death of  his beloved wife. Jeff was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joel Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Noah Mitchell, his daughter, Juniper McCoy and his grandchildren, Shayne and Tyler Mitchell and Hailynn McCoy, as well as his brothers, Jay (Terri) Mitchell and Jamie (Rose) Mitchell.
