In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and a committal service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta (those wishing to attend to should meet at the funeral assembly in the entrance of the cemetery by 12:45PM).

Age 51, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Joel was born in Yale, Michigan on September 22, 1964 to the late Kenneth and Jacquelene (Cunningham) Frye. He was a 1983 graduate of Yale High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. Joel was employed in the logistics department for Employment Group at Western Michigan University. He is survived by his only son, Eric Frye; sisters, Edith and Cynthia Frye and Mary (Sam) Cruz; brother, Kevin (Kathy Wait) Frye and nieces and nephews, Courtney and Weston Frye and Aaron, Matthew (Erica), Nathan and Jacquelene Cruz and one great-nephew, Levi Cruz.
