John H. Sikkenga

December 22, 1936 - January 22, 2025

A memorial service to honor and celebrate John’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am, at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Rd. Kalamazoo, MI 49004, with Rev. Paul Fazio officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place privately at West Cooper Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, c/o the funeral home.

John was a great neighbor - always willing to lend a hand, especially to gardens. He had such a joy for life. I enjoyed our “sidewalk chats” when he would enthusiastically share his experiences in school volunteering, grandkids’ activities and accomplishments, and his “marvelous” vacation experiences. I will miss him greatly. My prayers and condolences to Joyce and the family.

Mr. John Sikkenga, was a wonderful man and great teacher. I met him as a student at Cooper Elementary, many years ago, later in life we met again at North Park Reformed Church. I am sorry for your loss and grateful to have known him. Many Sympathies for your family. Love Bob and Linda Stuut.

The Sikkengas were a bedrock family in North Park Church. I was always moved by stories of his KPS volunteer work and the tender hearts of those hardscrabble students. My sympathies to Mrs. Sikkenga and all of the \"Sikkenga Kids."
