Age 89, passed away late Wednesday night, October 19, 2022. John was born in Cincinnati, OH, on November 21, 1932, the son of John A. and Susan C. (Dickoff) Meister. He was a graduate of Xavier High School and the University of Cincinnati. He proudly served his nation in the United States Navy Reserve. John enjoyed sports especially pickleball and golf. As a father he was a Little League Coach. His family has many fond memories of family vacations, especially camping trips. They also have memories of the hobby farm they grew up on and the animals he helped them raise for 4-H. He also loved sail boating, gardening, horse racing and was known to make a wager or two on the horses. John was a salesman for Kelco, a division of Merck and although his job took him on the road, he remained a frequent traveler for pleasure and went to many destinations including the Greek Isles, Africa, India, Europe, Hawaii and Israel. He was a generous person who kept many organizations in his thoughts. John is survived by his children, Stephen A. Meister of Portage, Holly J. Meister of Portage, Andrew J. (Wendi) Meister of Climax; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael C. Meister; and four sisters.
