We are saddened to hear of John's passing. Our condolences to Ellen, Katie and the rest of his family. John was one of the first to welcome us to the neighborhood and he quickly became the best neighbor anyone could ask for. Over the years, we spent quality time chatting about banking, yardwork, home projects, family, and the neighborhood. He was a hard worker and always willing to lend a hand or give sound advice when needed. He had many interests and spent quality time doing the things he loved. I will miss John and wish I had gotten to know him better during the 16+ years of being his neighbor. Thanks for being a friend and overall great guy, John.

My condolences to Ellen, Kathryn and the extended family as we are saddened to hear of this loss. I have many wonderful memories of John during our mutual banking career and especially when I was assigned to fill in at the Milwood and Richland offices. John was a kind soul and was a respected co-worker who loved his family, was smart, funny and always supportive. He will be truly missed by many.

My sincerest condolences to the family. John and I grew up together as neighborhood friends in Milwood. We spent many a day riding bicycles, playing ball, playing army, lifting weights, and chasing about the neighborhood. Later in life we reunited on social media. I will sorely miss him and his gentle manner. My heart and prayers go out to his entire family.

So sorry for the loss. I haven’t had much contact since we we kids, but Johny was best friend in 7th and 8th grade! We swam at B A beach, the vilified gravel pit and took our bikes to every corner of Kalamazoo County! Even had our first fight over a girl…

Katie, I am so sorry for your loss. I thoroughly enjoyed your Dad’s wittiness on Facebook. He was always very kind. My thoughts will be with you and your Mom as you go through the next days. Robin

John was one of the kindest men I have ever met. My dog loved him as did all dogs because he was so kind to them. John was always ready to help anyone and did a lot of hard work at Kairos Dwelling. Everyone who met John was blessed and I am grateful that I met John.
