Age 58, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Joe was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 14, 1965, the son of James F. and Colleen M. (McLaughlin) Meisterheim. He was a graduate of Portage Northern High School, class of 1984. Joe was a life-long proud construction worker and a member of several local labor unions. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hiking, fishing and camping. Joe also loved fires and was known as “the king of bonfires” He had a great sense of humor and was loved by many. Joe is survived by his mother, Colleen (Elmer) Young, step-mother, Carol Meisterheim; sisters, Debbie Wood and Jennifer (Dan) Lundquist; brothers, Russell Meisterheim and Larry (Kristi) Decker; nieces and nephews, Shelley (Allen) Stahl, Jamie (Cameron) Brockway, Douglas Wood, Erek Decker, Ryan Decker, Katelynn (Michael) Giordano, Karlee Bradley and Daniel Lundquist; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his father, James Meisterheim in 2018 and his beloved dog, Abby. A memorial visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
