Age 61, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 in Valdosta, Georgia. Joe was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 24, 1960, the son of the late John and MaryLou (Lyon) VanderPloeg. He was a graduate of Portage Central High School. Joe was a life-long mechanic and enjoyed helping others and working on their cars at his home. He was an avid fisherman and a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Red Wings and Formula One racing. Joe also enjoyed poker nights. He is survived by his children, Casey and Courtney VanderPloeg; grandson, Cade Finney; brothers, John (Terry) and James (Pam) VanderPloeg; sister, Marie (Jerald) Conroy; nephews, Scott and Tom VanderPloeg and niece, Caitlin (Ryan) Powell. Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his niece, Shannon Marie VanderPloeg. A visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
