A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at The Living Well Church, 5475 Ravine Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, Pastor Philip Rose officiating. Private interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite hospice organization or the American Cancer Society.

Age 89, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021. Joyce was born in Kalamazoo on May 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Geschwendt) Martin. Joyce retired from Friendship Village as the front office manager after 19 years of service. She enjoyed volunteering for hospice and wintering in Haines City, Florida. Joyce also enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading. She was a member of Twin Lakes Reformed Church, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society and the Celiac Support Group. Joyce’s family was the center focus of her life and she loved spending time with them. On September 6, 1952, Joyce was united in marriage to Neil L. Garrison, who preceded her in death on July 14, 2019. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Karen) Garrison and Susan (Todd) Taylor; grandchildren, Patrick Garrison, Jamie (Dr. T.J.) Carls, Kathryn Garrison, Allyson Taylor and Emilee Taylor; great-grandson, Cameron Carls; brother, James (Arlene) Martin; sisters in-law, Lou Martin and Florence DePouw; as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Martin and brother in-law, Harold DePouw.
