Age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2020. Joyce was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 10, 1930, the daughter of Menzo and Jeanette (Pinkster) Dieterman. Joyce’s father died when she was just a young girl and her mother remarried Jacob Sikkenga, who adopted Joyce and raised her as his own. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and served the Lord in many capacities throughout her entire life. On April 14, 1950, Joyce was united in marriage to Rev. Henry Jager, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1986. Joyce and Hank served many churches of the Reformed Church in America throughout the country, including Michigan, New York, South Dakota, Kentucky, Kansas and Alabama. They were steadfast in their work for the Lord and both touched many lives, especially Joyce. She was an avid reader and studier of the Bible. Joyce also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a personal inspiration to many and private chaplain to anyone who needed her. Although Joyce never really retired from her work in the ministry, her last calling was as a chaplain at Park Village Pines, where she made many friends and would eventually become a beloved resident. She is survived by her children, Cathy (Richard) Reynolds, Carol Jager and David (Chris) Jager; grandchildren, Courtney and Carrie Knodel, Michael and Brian Reynolds and Trevor, Logan and Austin Jager; great-granddaughter, Isabella; brother, John (Joyce) Sikkenga and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother in-law, Rhine (Betty) Jager.
