Age 79, passed away at home on Sunday, August 13, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Big Rapids, MI, on June 6, 1944, the daughter of the late Elmer and Helen (Larsen) Thomas. Judy was kind, loving and selfless. She always put others first and her home and heart were open to those in need. She enjoyed spending time at home, loved her flower garden, feeding birds, watching hummingbirds and taking care of her pets. She also enjoyed going to the Binder Park Zoo. Judy had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of Overflow Church in Battle Creek where her welcoming smile will be missed. She worked hard as a registration clerk at the local hospital and also ran her own business “Happy Hems” for several years. Above all Judy loved her family and her friends. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. On March 14, 1964, she married her husband, Michael “Mr. Mike” Barnes, who survives. She is also survived by two loyal and loving children, Gail Barnes and Gary (Dawn) Barnes; seven grandchildren, Danyell (Brandon) Knight, Corie (John) Evankovich, Kameron Barnes, Kyan Janette Barnes, Jamie (Erik) Baxter, Autumn (Neil) Moore, Sarah (Ricky) Beene; great-grandchildren, Kylee Knight, Matthew and Kaitlynn Baxter, Hunter, Brantlee and Liam Moore, Madison, Natalie, Jase, Cole Beene; siblings, Jeri Harasim, Karl Thomas; special best friend and cousin, Junie B.
