Age 75, passed away at her home on Friday, December 8, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Kalamazoo on November 30, 1948, the daughter of the late Wayne and Ruth C. (DeVries) Powell. Judy was the blueprint of a ‘good person’. She was never too busy to help a friend or stranger in need and her heart was always in the right place. She had a passion for knowledge and was employed at the Kalamazoo Public Library for several years. When not working or reading a book, she enjoyed spending time in nature and loved feeding the wildlife at her family home. Judy was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother and friend who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. She will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her husband, Ladd Dawkins; son, Josh (Tara Hitchcock) Ampey; grandchildren, Jordan and Olivia Ampey and great-granddaughter, Delilah Rain Ampey; many extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Christopher Ronald Ampey and a sister.
