Passed away at sunset on May 20, 2018. Born to the union of James and Nora Robinson in East Chicago, IN on February 19, 1943. He accepted Christ at an early age at Faith Temple Church of God and Christ in East Chicago, IN. He was a graduate of Washington High School, East Chicago, IN in 1961. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He studied at Indiana University Northwest and Western Michigan University. He was married to the late Sara (Pat) Jefferson, to this union three daughters, Dametria, Dawn, and Latasha, were born. He began working at the Social Security Administration (SSA) as a Disability Examiner and later retired. He had a calling on his life to be a prayer warrior and encouraged family, friends and anyone he came across in passing. He was well known for his encouraging words, being a listening ear, and ending a visit with a prayer for you. Anyone that knew Lawrence, knew that he loved God and was strong in his faith. His hobbies were collecting antiques, reading at Barnes and Nobles, and driving to Mishawaka, IN and Saugatuck, MI. Later being called as a caregiver for his mom until she was called home and continued to care for his sister until his death. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories his son, Ernest (Ana) Washington of Flossmoor, IL; daughters, Dametria Robinson and Cheryl Lynn Robinson of Indianapolis, IN, Latasha Robinson of Noblesville, IN, Dawn (Ivan Sr.) Colbert of Dumfries, VA; seven grandchildren, LaTerrian Hutton, Lexus Robinson, Brooklyn Riley, and Mallory Edwards of Indianapolis, IN, Ivan Colbert Jr., Brianna Colbert, and Brandon Colbert of Dumfries, VA.; three great-grandchildren, Jorrell Anthony and Jorray Tiffany Hutton of Gary, IN and Nolan Riley Markey of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Eugene (Janice) Robinson and sister, Ardean Robinson of East Chicago, IN; sister-in-law, Doris Robinson of Noblesville, IN. Also, his beloved nieces, Kimberly Robinson of Nashville, TN; Courtney (John) Senger of Noblesville, IN, and Kristin Robinson of Los Angeles, CA; and great-nieces and nephew and a host of cousins and friends. Also, special friend Gail Norcross. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nora Robinson; and his brother, Fredrick Robinson.
