Born to Robert and Shirley Turgeon on November 11, 1944, in Skokie, Illinois, Leslie Gail Ayres (Turgeon) passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025.

Leslie was a true jack of all trades, embracing various roles throughout her life. From her early days as a secretary to later adventures as a truck driver, she approached every job with dedication and enthusiasm. She also spent time as a cashier at Meijer and Home Depot, where her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in others made her a favorite among customers and colleagues alike. She even used to clown around, literally. Leslie was also a passionate golfer and made many wonderful memories around the lynx, including her hole-in-one at Eastern Hills in Kalamazoo where she was a member.

Leslie is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Ayres, who stood by her side through life’s journey. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Patti Kanipe and Peggy (Debbie Campbell) Trumble, and her son, Paul (Michelle) Trumble Jr. Leslie’s family extended to her stepdaughter, Joanna McHugh, each touched by her warmth and care. She is also survived by her best friend Carol (Roger) Brock and her 7 children.

Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Nathan and Jessica Kanipe, Gail and Neil Trumble, Veronica (Jake) Woodring, Courtnie McHugh, Chelsea Walker, Joshua McHugh, Cody McHugh, and Jayden Vernon. Leslie is also remembered by her nephews, Cole Craig and Todd Turgeon, who held a special place in her heart.

Leslie had a deep affection for both people and animals. She loved her macaw parrot and her many dogs, with Teddy being her final protector. Her warm heart and generous spirit touched many lives, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Leslie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Shirley Turgeon, her brother Robert Turgeon Jr., stepson Jimmy Ayres, and a granddaughter, Cassandra Webber.
