A memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018, beginning at 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001, with Msgr. Michael Hazard Officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. John will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Hospital Hospitality House, c/o the funeral home.

Age 69, passed away on December 1, 2018, with family at his side. John was born in Kalamazoo on May 25, 1949, the son of the late Arthur and Shirley (Gettys) Davidson. He was also preceded in passing by two siblings, Richard and Donald Davidson. On March 27, 1969, he was drafted into the Army and served as a combat soldier during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in April of 1971. After his service he returned to Kalamazoo where he worked for Georgia Pacific Paper Company.  He would later retire from ICM Products. He was very handy and resourceful and could fix nearly anything. John had a wonderful personality and was a joy to know. He was kind, loving and willing to help those in need. Above all John loved his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and leaves them with the legacy of a life well lived. When not working he enjoyed traveling and took many memorable cross-country trips and cruises with his wife Peggy and grandchildren. John also enjoyed going to the casino and loved shopping. John’s smile and laughter will be missed by all those who loved him. On December 18, 1971, he married the love of his life Peggy (Reaume) Davidson who survives. He is also survived by three children, Lewis (Treasa) Davidson II, Tina (Scott) Eager and Rebecca Powers; an honorary daughter, Samantha (Sam) Gannon and her three children, Jacob, Max and Miah; nine grandchildren, Kassandra Kloth, Alexandra (Aaron) Flood, Lewis John Davidson III, Marina Davidson, Jonathan Eager, Collin Eager, Emily “Toby” Powers, Kaya Powers, Levi Eager; an honorary granddaughter, Sarah (Donqual) Smith-Johnson and their daughter, Lashay; five great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Arayah, Adestria, Felicity, Ozïl; seven siblings, Myra (Donald) Psalmonds, Susan (Kenneth) Cross, Arthur Davidson, Brenda (Arthur) Austin, Denise Zirkelbach, Dale “Barney” Davidson, Peggy (Mark) Slater; sister-in-law, Rose Davidson; special niece, Yvonne Reaume; several nieces, nephews and friends.
