Lillian (Lily) Troelstrup Wolfe (Born August 13, 1930), of Kalamazoo, died in peace and dignity on November 1, 2020 from natural causes. She leaves her loving children, Lisa A. Wolfe and Christopher T. Townsend; and her brother, Edward T. Petersen, with whom she was close; and her nephews. She is preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Suzanne E. Wolfe; her son-in-law, Scott E Townsend; the love of her life, Charles G. Wolfe; and parents Christian H. Petersen and Edith T. Petersen. She was grateful to all who helped her on her life journey in great and small ways, especially the St. Benedict’s community in Snowmass, Colorado; and for her spiritual guides and friends, Mata Yogananda Mahasaya Dharma and Fr. Thomas Keating. Lily was an esteemed businesswoman, a bellwether ahead of her time, with a fierce eye on political and social justice, and a loyal friend. She was a visionary leader of the creative arts community, with characteristic style, and a respected mentor for many who sought to follow their most cherished dreams. She was a ‘big sister’ to people and animals, known and unknown, and a voice of truth to many. She is remembered and held dearly for her abiding joy, love of simple beauty, and especially her compassionate spirit and song.
