A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2019, beginning at 2:00 PM, at Parchment United Methodist Church, 225 Glendale Blvd, Parchment, MI 49004, with Rev. Thomas Davenport officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, c/o the funeral home. Linda lived each day to its fullest and leaves this thought for today, “A happy life must be to a great extent a quiet life, for it is only in an atmosphere of quiet that true joy can live.”

Age 73, passed away at home on Thursday, April 4, 2019 with family at her side. Linda was born in Kalamazoo on May 8, 1945, the daughter of the late Clara Hayworth. Linda was kind, loving and generous. She was always one to keep track of birthdays and special dates, she remembered the little things about everyone she loved and selflessly went out of her way to help others. She loved animals and volunteered at the Kalamazoo Humane Society. She enjoyed cooking and her famous cookies were always a treat. She was a hard worker and after retirement continued to work at the Parchment Library. Linda was always available to help those in need, her home and heart were always open. Above all Linda loved her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and “Grammie” who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. On August 29, 1964, she married David Johnson who survives. She is also survived by her children, Jennifer Lynn Marr, Lana (Tim) Christian, Jeff (Paula) Johnson; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Patrick Marr, Andrew and Alex Christian, Ariel and Jenna Johnson; siblings, Gordon Cookingham, Barry Hayworth and Gail Evenhouse; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cookingham, brother-in-law, Ron Pohlonski; many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a brother, John Cookingham; sister, Jill Pohlonski.
