Lois C. West, of Kalamazoo, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the age of 91. Lois was born December 22, 1925 in Chicago, IL; the daughter of the late Albert and Pauline (Nelson) Splinter. She spent many years growing up in Marquette Michigan. On June 12, 1948 she married the love of her life, William (Bill) West, who preceded her in death on March 23, 2011. Bill and Lois moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where Lois was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church, singing in the choir and participating in Anna Circle, as well a longtime member of Chapter CN, P.E.O. Sisterhood. She loved art, music and nature, which remained a very important part of her entire life. Lois is survived by her three children, James (Karen Prinzmetal) West of Los Angeles, CA; Kathryn (Bob) Brandt of Scotts, MI and Don (Kristin) West of Clarendon Hills, IL; her grandchildren, Joshua (Heather Abraham), Andrew and Matthew Brandt, Sarah and Lauren West; her sister, Dorothy (Doug) Vanerka; as well as nieces, Laura (Chris) Love and Nancy Vanerka and grandniece and grandnephew, Abigail and David Love. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her positive outlook, humor and curiosity about the world around her.
