In the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 9, 2020, after a short battle with Covid 19, Lois Ellen Olson, formerly of Battle Creek, MI, most recently residing at Woodside, Friendship Village, Kalamazoo, MI, went home to be with our Lord. Lois was born in 1932 in Otsego, MI to James Russell Sprau and Hazel Margaret (Nash) Sprau.  She had two brothers, the first, Kenneth, passed away as an infant.  She is survived by her dearly loved younger brother, Gilbert Russel (Sharon) Sprau, whom she treasured. Lois graduated from Otsego High School in 1950 and that same year married her only love and high school sweetheart, Lyle Edward Olson.  They were married fifty-two years, until Lyle passed away in 2003. They spent most of their married life in Battle Creek, where Lyle worked and retired from the Kellogg Company.  Lois worked for many years as the school secretary at Wattle Park Elementary and later spent almost 10 years working as an administrative assistant at the Federal Center in Battle Creek.  After retirement, Lois and Lyle built a house back in Plainwell, MI, to move closer to family and the place they grew up.  They also spent many years wintering in Haines City, FL.  Lois’s greatest pleasure was being Lyle’s wife and mother to her girls.  She and Lyle traveled together with family and friends.  After Lyle’s passing, Lois developed a love of gems and jewelry making.  Lois read daily and never passed up an opportunity to visit a casino. Together, Lois and Lyle had two daughters, Nancy Ann Olson and Penni Ellen (Olson) Greene; Four granddaughters, Casey Nichole (Sarah) Brockway, Whitney Anne Brockway, Mackenzie Elizabeth (William Cremeans) Greene and Madelyne Alexandra Greene.  She was preceded in death by her first great-granddaughter, Wilhelmina Grace, and has three surviving great-grandsons, Leo (born on her birthday and named after her initials) Hayes Brockway, Louie Winston Brockway, and arriving soon, Luka Dean Cremeans. Lois was the Matriarch of her extensive remaining family.  In addition to her brother Gib and his wife Sharon and the four nieces and nephews they gave her (Jim, Jane, Julie and John), she had many beloved cousins, their spouses, children, all whom she cherished.  Her cousins were like siblings to her. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Sonia (Olson) (Ross) Crawford, who gave her three nephews (Bob, David, and Ed Crawford).
