A memorial service to honor and celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, beginning at 11:30 a.m., at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Christian Resource Center or Centrica Care Navigators, in c/o the funeral home.

Lorraine VanderLugt passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Kalamazoo. She was born on June 13, 1927, in Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of Meindert and Fredericka (Fischhaber) Dykstra. She grew up on the north side of Kalamazoo and attended Kalamazoo Central. Following high school, she worked for several years at Title Bond and Mortgage Company. She was united in marriage to Thomas VanderLugt on October 22, 1949. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, traveling and watching the Tigers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, her son Dr. Ronald VanderLugt and her brothers Robert and William Dykstra. Lorraine is survived by two sons, Dr. James (Susan) VanderLugt, and Donald (Yumiko) VanderLugt. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dr. Joel (Shontel) Vanderlugt, David (Janet) VanderLugt, Rachel (Kyle) Kuipers, Michael VanderLugt and Michelle VanderLugt, eleven great-grandchildren, Dawson, Jamisen, Dylan, Nathan, Daniel, Peter, Aaron and David VanderLugt and Caleb, Joselyn, and Kendall Kuipers.
