Mrs. Margaret Ann Csiszar of Kalamazoo passed on from this world the morning of March 10, 2023. Her two daughters, Julianna Csiszar and Ilona Weissmann were by her side. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Mihaly (Mike) Csiszar, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her children Julianna Csiszar (partner Jeff Jason); Ilona (John) Weissmann; grandchildren Jennifer (Eric) Hunt: children Alexander, Edwin, Elliana; John Weissmann Jr: son Maxten; Jeremy Weissmann: daughter Mackenzie, and many well-loved nieces, nephews, and their children. Margaret Csiszar was born in Kalamazoo, MI of parents Janos (John) Varga and Gisella (Grace) Szabo, both of Hungary. The youngest of nine children, Margaret was a very hardworking girl. From her parents she learned much about growing, cooking, and preserving food (especially Hungarian dishes) as well as winemaking, her recipes being passed down to her children and grandchildren. A highly active youth, she was president of her student council in grade school, enjoyed being a girl scout, playing volleyball, skating, singing and studying viola, piano and organ. She grew up in the Hungarian Reformed Church of Kalamazoo, using her music skills to become one of the organists there and singing in the choir. She graduated Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953. She met the love of her life, Mike Csiszar, soon after he arrived in America with one of his brothers, Lazlo Csiszar, having been one of the Freedom Fighters in the ’56 Revolution in Hungary. Margaret and Mike had two (2) daughters, Julianna of Kalamazoo and Ilona of Mattawan. Margaret also had an active career, starting her working life at the S.S.Kresge store and diner downtown before moving into banking, then payroll/accounting for the Cities of Portage and Three Rivers. She later became a realtor and broker for the remainder of her career. In her rare free time, she loved cooking, fine needlework, reading about history and religion, and travelling to Hungary several times to see family. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and other extended family and friends she cared about. Margaret Csiszar was, and is, loved and sorely missed by many, and always will be.
