Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001, Pastor Ron Lugten and Reverend Dr. Joseph Posta officiating. A time of visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service and a luncheon and fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Bethany Reformed Church, c/o the funeral home.

Age 86, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Margaret was born in Kalamazoo on March 22, 1932, the daughter of Hungarian immigrants, Ignacz and Ida (Kalik) Szabo. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, class of 1950 and attended Western Michigan University. Margaret was employed by the Upjohn Company where she worked as an executive secretary until her retirement on April 1, 1990 after 35 years of service. After her retirement she went on to work part-time for the Upjohn Company for another two years in the corporate licensing and patents area. Margaret was an active member of the Hungarian Evangelical Reformed Church where she served as its secretary for 30 years and its organist for 50 years. She was also active in church events and programs. Margaret loved music and her Hungarian heritage was very important to her. In addition to her commitment to her local church, she was involved with the Calvin Synod Western Classis. Margaret was a kind and generous person who was always willing to help others. Margaret loved spending time with her family, entertaining, celebrating holidays at her home and cooking. She also enjoyed crafting and gardening as well. On January 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to Clifford E. Rautanen who preceded her in death on January 30, 2011. Margaret and Cliff loved each other dearly and were able to enjoy 39 years together. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Louis and Paul Sabo and sisters, Ethel Sabo, Theresa Matko and Ida Orosz. Margaret is survived by her son, Robert G., Jr. (Christine Miller) Morris; step-sons, Dennis (Patricia) and Brian Rautanen; one step-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
