Age 80, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Marilyn was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 5, 1941, the daughter of the late Carl L. and Ella E. (Powell) Walker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steve Heflin; sister, Eleanor Wright and brother, Jack Walker. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Renae “Red” Heflin; daughter, Sherrie (Eric) Bayha; son, Todd (Karensa) Heflin; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn loved her church in Alabama, family, her puppy and country music. She spent most of her life in Michigan, but over the past few years enjoyed wintering in Alabama with her husband. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock. Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s memory may be given to the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
