Age 59, passed away on September 26, 2023. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Walter Wood and Mary Barnes. Mark was kind, gentle and loving. His reserved nature made him a good listener and he enjoyed the simple things in life. Raised in Salem, IL, like most young boys he became a fan of baseball. After moving to St. Louis, he would become a lifelong Cardinals fan. During the football season he was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed a NASCAR race on Sunday afternoons. Mark worked hard as a truck driver, later a dispatcher and finally an operations manager. When not working he loved to spend time fishing and being on the water. He enjoyed traveling, playing poker and blackjack or spending time with friends. Above all Mark loved his family and he leaves them with many special memories to cherish. He is survived by two loving children, Kirsten (Angelo) Buchino and Mark (Ashley) Wood Jr.; grandchildren, Adalyn Wyllie, Anthony Buchino, Eli Wood, Breelynn Wood, Mackenlee Wood; a sister, Jessa Raley and a special niece, Rebecca Domeck. Mark was also preceded in passing by a brother, Herb Wood.
