Marlene Fay Van Tuyl (nee Edlund) gently passed away on April 25, 2022. Her warm smile and caring nature will be missed by all who knew her. Marlene endured years of discomfort but relied on her strong faith, will and determination to make through each day. Refusing to think of herself as old, she remained sharp, quick-witted and driven to care for those around her, especially Marv, her husband of 31 years. Forever curious and always thinking, Marlene could envision and fashion a “gizmo” to fix something broken or make a chore easier. From adding her own creative, humorous touch to greeting cards, tailoring a gift specifically for a person or occasion, to making a rice pudding for a neighbor, Marlene loved to bring joy to those around her. Marlene’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she never missed an opportunity to boast about them. She always made things special for each of them, supported their endeavors, and took advantage of every opportunity to create memories with them. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Halvard and Ruth Edlund, and Richard Hertzell, former husband and father of her children. She is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Van Tuyl; daughter, Terri Hertzell; son, Kent (Didi) Hertzell; grandchildren, Alison (Brendan) Lowry, Tiffany Hertzell, and Derek Hertzell; great-grandchildren, Edith and Aleksander Lowry; her brother, Kenneth (Judy) Edlund; two nieces, Julie King and Kim (Lee) Gowans; six great-nieces and nephews; a stepdaughter, stepson and a number of step grandchildren
