Bongers, Martin B., Kalamazoo, MI; a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at 75 on April 23rd, 2024.  He will be remembered for his zest for life and his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and hobbies.

Marty could often be found in his garage.  A skilled mechanic, he enjoyed working on all kinds of engines, whether it be trucks, motorcycles, cars, lawn mowers, or chainsaws.  His passion for fixing things inspired all who knew him.

In addition to working in his garage, he enjoyed the freedom of being on the open road.  He cherished the sense of adventure that came with riding his Harley motorcycle.  The open road was his playground, and he embraced every twist and turn with a fearless spirit.

When he wasn’t tearing up the pavement, Marty found solace in the company of his brother, Bill, with whom he shared countless memories of hunting trips and outdoor adventures.  Bonded by blood and a shared love of the hunt, they forged a bond that was unbreakable, his brother Bill was his trusted companion in both the woods and in life.

Family meant everything to Marty.  He cherished spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored and spoiled with affection and laughter.

In the hearts of those who knew him best, Marty will forever be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, boundless energy, and generous spirit.  He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his daughter Amy Trump; his grandchildren Riley, Nicolas, and Thomas Trump; his sisters Sharry Lapekas, Vicki Spears, Janeen (Thomas) Kiel, and Barbara (Clayton) Wilson; his brother William (Ruth) Bongers; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Bongers; his parents, William and Mary Ann Bongers; his in-laws Andy and Colleen Schaffhauser; and his brother in law, Larry Lapekas.
