A visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Mendon. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.

Age 88, passed away on Friday November 8, 2019. Mary Lou was born on August 11, 1931, the daughter of the late William and Marie (Stafford) Boyle. She was employed at Gibson Guitar in Kalamazoo until their closing and later worked as a supervisor at Steamatic. Mary Lou loved her family and enjoyed birthdays and holidays. She always made a point to get the whole family together for Thanksgiving and Christmas and visiting her grandkids on their birthdays. She was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed playing cards and gambling. Mary Lou also loved animals. On November 30, 1985, she married Raymond Hoogenboom, who survives. Mary Lou is also survived by her daughter, Bonnie K. Bell; granddaughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jenny (Matt) Meddler, Michael (Julie) Thompson, Katie Thompson and Jacob (Elizabeth) Thompson; great-great-grandchildren, Nikolas, William and Alexander Meddler and Joel, Kadence and Jude Thompson; brother, Richard “Dick” (Mary Lou) Boyle; step-daughter, Laurie VanAtti and step-granddaughter, Jamie (Denny) Ockerman. Besides her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Adelbert Sparrow; son in-law, Joel Bell; grandson, Joel Bell, Jr.; sisters, June Smith, Harriet Stanley and Patty Meeuwsen; and brothers, William, Robert, Marion “Chuck” and Glen Boyle.
