A celebration of life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, on Friday April 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. so that the many people who loved Mary can celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Humane Society, the ACLU, and First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo. The family would like to extend a special thanks to those dedicated and loving staff members of Northwoods Village and Hawthorn Landing of Kalamazoo.

Dear Elizabeth and your siblings, My sincere caring on hearing the death of your mother, Mary. I know she was a kind and gentle caregiver, for my Mother, Gladys Kozar. Our (large) family could not have taken all the complete care and kindness that Mary shared to Mom. (I was planning on attending the funeral this Friday, but I have gotten sick this week and do not want to share by germs.) God bless you all and prayers for Mary! Thank you for Sharing her, Elizabeth 😇 Sidney Brush

Mary Baker was a kind and generous neighbor who made a lasting impact on me growing up on Pickerel Lake. When I was little Mary was the one that gave me a place to play basketball because our driveway was gravel. I played many hours in her driveway at all times of the day and I still wonder how all that bouncing of the ball never drove her crazy. Mary's family would host an amazing 4th of July party at her house and my family would be invited. It was full of fun, food, basketball and best of all fireworks! This party was a top highlight of my summers growing up. Later on Mary saw I was hardworking and offered me many jobs to help save for a car and college. My favorite job was going to the elementary with her in August to prepare for the next school season. Her welcoming warmth and support meant a lot to me, and I’ll always cherish those memories. My heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones.

Shirley and I met Mary and her family in the 80s and she touched our lives with her friendship and sense of humor. Mary touched so many lives as her obituary shows and she made a difference in so many ways.

I have known Mary nearly my entire life and have the honor of having her as my Step-Mom/bonus Mom as an adult. Mary was so incredibly kind, caring and full of love (and some shenanigans!) Her heart was pure gold and she loved openly. I will be forever grateful to have had her in my life as well as in my girls' lives and for all of the wonderful memories we shared. To know Mary was to love Mary. Thank you Laura, Liz, Leigh and Brett for sharing your Mom with all of us. You took fantastic care of her, and I know she is so proud of all of you.

My memories of Mary are of a wonderfully accepting, gracious and caring stepmom. She was also a funny and delightful woman who on occasion joined me and my mom for some hilarious visits together. You will be missed Mom Mary. Doree
